It only took me 2 whole months to post my first blog post for 2019... NBD. Girl, I wish I could say I feel a way but I honestly don't. I took the time I needed to be away and didn't let what everyone else was doing rush my process. January + February tend to be slower months for business anyways so I wasn't pressed. If I missed out on it, then it wasn't for me... that's how I looked at it. But I'm back and it feels good to be running my own race at my own pace. This doesn't mean there hasn't been a ton going on at the Shoppe HQ aka Home, just means that there's been a lot going on behind the scenes that I haven't shared...
First off, I can't believe that I turn 35 years old this August!! It's the first birthday that I've looked forward to in a while, don't ask me why. It's so different than what I normally do but I'm excited to create something fun + memorable. I know you're thinking that it's odd that I'm planning my own Birthday celebration... umm, hi have you met me? I rarely like big surprises and I'm hella anxious if I don't have any of the control so here we are. Not sure if I'm going to do a photoshoot or anything as I sometimes feel that's more for 'show' and not the memory. We are literally just now in the process of getting our wedding pictures blown up poster size for our bedroom, 7 years later. What I do know is that my birthday falls on a Friday which provides the perfect timeline for a bomb ass birthday weekend. Ya'll just stay tuned...
Speaking of a bomb ass birthday weekend, we are going to do so responsibly!! LOL. No bills will be skipped to make this happen. We have kept a lot on the back burner when it came to our financial stability but 2019 is the year we are changing that. One of our biggest challenges is our credit scores. Not just improving them but rehabbing the poor habits that caused us to have lower scores to begin with. We use to aim for buying a home but once we decided that wasn't on "our" list of must-haves, things just fell apart. Now our goal is to be able to be approved for a home loan, whether we actually want to buy or not. That's one thing a great credit score will do, it will give you options and we all love having options. The first thing that was necessary for us was establishing a budget, then paying down revolving debt then and last (but not least), finding a financial advisor. We are still putting these processes in place and I wish I could say it's been easy but it hasn't but I do know we will be hella proud of ourselves once we accomplish our goals. In the meantime, just keep us in your rich prayers saints!!
Unless you've been hiding under a rock, all the Influencers on Instagram are now pregnant. Okay, maybe not all of them but GIRL, it's a lot!! I would be lying if I said that I haven't experienced 'Baby Fever' over the past few years but we just have no room for extra children in our plans. Not to mention, we are happy with the family we have now. Kennedy is almost 9 years old, I can't imagine starting over again now. So, I have redirected any 'Baby Fever' into 'Puppy Fever'!! LOL. Yes, that means we will soon have a puppy join our family and I am beyond excited. I've been patiently looking for weeks to find the 'perfect' one for us + the kids don't know as it will be a surprise which is even more exciting. Keep your eyes open because he'll be making his appearance sometime this month!!
This was fun catching up with you all. No worries, I'll be back soon and it won't be another 2 months before you hear from me again. PROMISE.
XOXO
Candice
